Disability Equipment Service
Support the Disability Equipment Service by donating your disability equipment.
The Disability Equipment Service is a website covering the UK which provides members of the public and organisations an opportunity to buy and sell new and used disability equipment.
To help cover the running costs of this service, we accept donated disability equipment* which we collect, clean, repair and then sell. We give 25% of the proceeds to our nominated charity with the remainder going towards the ongoing running costs of the service.
Due to our location, we normally only collect equipment from Surrey and the surrounding counties. However, if you have equipment that you would like to donate we still might be able to accept, or if we're unable to accept, support you with finding someone more locally to you.
* Due to our limited storage we may not be able to accept all items donated to us. In some cases we may request to sell the item in situ (if convenient) or provide you with an alternative organisation that may be able to accept your item.
We are a local charity. We hire out scooters, wheelchairs and rollators for our customers to go shopping and we also sell disability aids.
The Littlehampton Shopmobility shop is situated in the Bradbury Centre, a short distance from the main shopping centre and south of the public St Martin's car park. We have some limited car parking spaces at the front of our shop that can be used by people who have difficulty in walking.
Our opening times are
Monday = 10am – 4pm
Tuesday = 10am – 4pm
Wednesday = 10am – 4pm
Thursday = 10am – 4pm
Friday = 10am – 4pm
Saturday = 10am – 1pm
Sunday = Closed
We offer a Scooter, Wheelchair and Rollator rental service enabling people to complete their shopping around the town independently. In order to rent one of our items you will need to become a member (only £5 per annum). We also provide a longer term rental service for people who may need a Wheelchair for a short period or scooter whilst their one is being repaired. Please read more on our website or contact us for further information.
We stock a range of disability aids and equipment, from daily living aids through to the larger mobility aids. We also can advise on products to suit your exact needs.
In conjunction with Sussex Police, we now offer a Scooter Registration service. For our members and other scooter owners locally, for just £1 (going up to £3 on 1st April 2016), we will register your scooter, recording the details and putting a couple of stickers on your scooter to indicate that it’s a registered scooter. Sadly scooters do get stolen from outside shops or from people’s homes but thieves are less willing to steal a scooter that is registered as it can be traced.
Our ‘Pit Stop’ service is also very popular. For just £5, we’ll clean, check tyres and carry out small repairs on your scooter or wheelchair. For more information pleaes contact us.
If you live in Littlehampton, recently moved to the area or just visiting, please visit our shop and support our charity.
