Privacy Policy

All data collected using this web site is done so in accordance with our privacy policy and regulations set in the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation – which replaced the Data Protection Act in May 2018), as stated below:

We take your privacy very seriously. We will never pass your personal details on to anyone without your express consent.

You may at times be asked to supply personal information via this website. Personal information is anything which enables us to identify you in some way, such as your name and an email address. If you supply such information, we are legally bound by GDPR to ensure that such information is only used for the purpose for which it was requested, to ensure that the data is held securely, to ensure that data ‘shall not be kept for longer than is necessary’ and to give you the choice for your data to be removed on request.

Our website is hosted by Digital Ocean who comply to the GDPR ordinances.

We manage your personal data held within Digital Ocean as follows: • For our guest listers – a standard listing will remain live on our website for 90 days, unless you choose to extend this time period or archive your listing earlier. All data relating to this item will be deleted automatically 6 weeks after the date the item is archived. This relates to both sale and wanted listings. • For regular listers – there is no automatic time limit for sale and wanted listings completed by a regular lister. A regular lister can log in and manage their account and have the option to delete their account. All data is held for a further 6 weeks, following lister deletion. After this date it will be permanently deleted.

The reason we hold all data for an additional 6 week period is to allow for the reactivation of listings and listers should the need arise.

We will periodically send information emails regarding our service, for example, to alert you to new scam warnings or significant changes or updates to the website that you need to be aware of.

We do not sell your personal information to others.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a popular web statistics service to help us to analyse how users use the site. It counts the number of visitors and tells us things about how they use the website, such as how long they stay on the website each time they use it or the average number of pages they may look at.

We do not do this to track individual users or to identify them, but to gain useful knowledge about how the website is used, how long visitors stay on particular pages, etc. so that we can further develop the website to improve its usability.

Google Analytics will only hold data about the Disability Equipment Service for 14 months. This is the minimum time frame available on Google Analytics.
